Dua for evil eye

The Dua for evil eye (al-‘ayn) is a reality acknowledged in Islam, described as harm caused by envy or jealousy from others. It can negatively impact a person’s health, wealth, family, or success. So, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye.”
(Sahih Muslim)

Seeking protection from the evil eye is vital, and Islam provides us with powerful duas (supplications) and practices to safeguard ourselves and our loved ones.

What is the Evil Eye?

The evil eye occurs when someone looks at another with jealousy or excessive admiration, often without invoking Allah’s blessings. This look, fueled by envy, can cause harm. Allah mentions in the Qur’an:

“And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, ‘Indeed, he is mad.’ But it is nothing except a reminder to the worlds.”
(Surah Al-Qalam: 51-52)

This verse highlights the harmful effects of envious gazes and emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah’s protection.

Signs of the Evil Eye

Some possible signs of being affected by the evil eye include:

  • Sudden unexplained illnesses or fatigue.
  • Financial difficulties despite hard work.
  • Marital or familial discord without a clear reason.
  • Consistent failure in endeavors that previously succeeded.

If these issues arise and medical or logical explanations are absent, one might consider seeking protection from or treatment for the evil eye.

Surah An-Nas:
