The term “Hajat” refers to a need, want, or desire. The Dua of Hajat is a specific supplication recommended in the Sunnah when a person faces difficulties or seeks Allah’s help in achieving something important.

This dua is not limited to material needs; it can also be recited for spiritual goals, seeking guidance, or resolving emotional challenges.

Method of Performing the Dua of Hajat

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provided clear guidance on how to perform this supplication. The process includes the following steps:

1. Perform Wudu (Ablution):

Begin by purifying yourself with ablution, as cleanliness is an essential part of prayer.

2. Pray Two Rakahs of Salah:

Perform two units (rakahs) of prayer with the intention of asking Allah for your need.

3. Recite the Dua of Hajat:

After completing the prayer, sincerely make the following dua:

“La ilaha illallahu-l-Haleemul-Kareem. Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-‘Arshil-‘Azeem. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil-‘Alameen. As’aluka mujibati rahmatika, wa ‘aza’ima maghfiratika, wal-ghanimata min kulli birrin, was-salamata min kulli ithmin. La tada‘ li dhanban illa ghafartahu, wa la hamman illa farrajtahu, wa la hajatan hiya laka ridan illa qadaytaha ya arhamar-rahimeen.”

Translation: “There is no deity except Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory is to Allah, Lord of the Great Throne. Praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I ask You for the means of Your mercy, the forgiveness of Your sins, the benefit of every good deed, and safety from every sin. Do not leave me with any sin except that You forgive it, nor any worry except that You remove it, nor any need of mine which is pleasing to You except that You fulfill it, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
